In a case of theft, violation of tax laws and illegal registration of a luxury car, customs officials raided a house of the Defense Housing Authority and seized a Bentley Mulsanne car, allegedly stolen from London and registered with the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department. Exported.



According to the report of maknews-21, foreign spies traced the location of the car and informed the customs officials who detained 2 persons from the DHA's house and filed an FIR against them.

The Excise Department has been accused of 'facilitating' tax evasion of over Rs 30 crore after the provincial government registered the luxury vehicle without the permission of the Ministry of External Affairs and the NOC issued by Customs. At the time of import, its price was shown to be Rs 4 crore 14 lakh.

According to the FIR registered against the arrested accused Jameel Shafi, Naveed Balwani and an unknown facilitator of the Sindh Excise and Taxation Department and others, the Customs Enforcement Office Collectorate received 'reliable' information from Dost Malik's intelligence agency, which said A Bentley car stolen from London is suspected to be parked at a house (15-B South, 10th Street) in DHA, Karachi.

In this regard, the customs authorities reviewed the cases and after fulfilling the legal requirements, raided the house along with the female officer and traced the vehicle parked there.

The authorities asked the 'owner' Jameel Shafi to provide the legal documents of the vehicle, on which he instead stated that the said vehicle was sold to him by a person named Naveed Balwani with the terms of the agreement that it would be delivered by November 2022. will be responsible for all matters of approval of required documents from concerned authorities.

According to the FIR, the vehicle was impounded when the owner's statement was not satisfactory and the document of the said vehicle could not be produced.

During all these proceedings Naveed Balwani was also seen there, when asked to produce the legal documents of the vehicle, Naveed Balwani showed his 'failure' to provide the required documents and failed to give a 'satisfactory answer'.

During preliminary investigation, Naveed Balwani told the customs that he had only helped to arrange a deal between Jameel Shafi and another person named Naveed Yameen regarding money and documents while Naveed Yameen had given Jameel Shafi as payment for the vehicle. Received cash and pay orders.

It has been stated in the FIR that the said vehicle was checked on the website of the Motor Registration Excise and Taxation Department of the Government of Sindh and it was revealed that the vehicle is already registered in the Motor Registration Excise and Taxation Department which is a legal requirement. As against whereas in this case, sale permission from Ministry of External Affairs, NOC from Pakistan Customs as well as payment of duty and taxes were required.

The FIR states that the suspicious registration of the vehicle indicates the collusion of the staff of the Motor Registration Excise and Taxation Department.

The customs department has named Naveed Yameen and an unidentified official of the excise department in the case registered under relevant provisions of the Customs Act, 1969.

Customs authorities believe that the named persons kept the said vehicle 'illegally' and defrauded Rs.
