In the first qualifier match of Pakistan Super League (PSL) season 7, Multan Sultans defeated Lahore Qalandars by 28 runs and made it to the final.

In the match played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Lahore Qalandars decided to field first after winning the toss against Multan Sultans.

Defending champions Multan Sultans scored 163 runs for the loss of 2 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs. In reply, Lahore scored 135 runs for the loss of 9 wickets.

For Multan, Riley Russo played an unbeaten innings of 65 runs, captain Muhammad Rizwan also remained unbeaten on 53 runs, besides him Amir Azmat scored 33 runs and Shaun Masood scored 2 runs.

Muhammad Hafeez and Samat Patel took one wicket each for Qalandars.

 Apart from Fakhr Zaman, no better performance was made by Qalandars. Fakhr Zaman played an innings of 63 runs.

Apart from them, Kamran Ghulam scored 20, Harry Brook scored 13 and Samat Patel scored 11, David Wesa scored 8 and Abdullah Shafiq scored 5, captain Shaheen Shah Afridi and Phil Salt scored one each while Mohammad Hafeez was dismissed for zero.

From Multan Sultans, Shahnawaz Dahani got 3 wickets and David Valley got 2 wickets.

The Multan Sultans included captain Muhammad Rizwan, Shaun Masood, Roman Raees, Amir Azmat, Riley Russo, Johnson Charles, Khushdal Shah, David Valley, Asif Afridi, Imran Tahir and Shah Nawaz Dahani.

The Lahore Qalandars included captain Shaheen Afridi, Fakhruzzaman, Abdullah Shafiq, Kamran Ghulam, Muhammad Hafeez, Harry Brook, Samat Patel, Phil Salt, David Wesa, Haris Rauf and Zaman Khan.

The Qalandars have another chance to reach the final. The winner of tomorrow's eliminator match between Islamabad and Peshawar will have to play a qualifier against the Qalandars after which the other team will decide the final.
