In the first round of the seventh edition of Pakistan Super League (PSL), Islamabad United defeated Quetta Gladiators by 43 runs.
In pursuit of the target of 230 runs, Quetta Gladiators scored 186 runs and Ehsan Ali remained prominent by scoring 50 runs.
Earlier, batting first at the invitation of Quetta Gladiators, Islamabad United scored 229 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in the stipulated 20 overs, Colin Monroe remained prominent by scoring 71 runs.
Islamabad United's innings
Islamabad Unit ed's innings got off to a smoky start, with openers Paul Sterling and Alex Hales completing the team's half-century in just four overs, but Hales was dismissed for 22 off a total of 56 runs.
However, Paul Sterling continued to play aggressively and took the team's score to 81 for one in the power play. Islamabad completed 100 runs in just 7.1 overs.
However, Islamabad suffered another loss in the form of Paul Sterling, who was dismissed for a smoky innings of 58 off 28 balls. Besides, Shadab Khan scored 9 runs.
After losing 3 wickets, Islamabad started batting again on Quetta Gladiators, a 97-run partnership was formed between Colin Monroe and Azam Khan.
Azam Khan scored 65 off 35 balls and was dismissed in the last over while Monroe remained unbeaten on 72 off 39 balls.
On the other hand, Shahid Afridi of Quetta made the most expensive bowling spell of Pakistan Super League in the match. He took one wicket in four overs and scored 67 runs.
Before Afridi, the honor went to Zafar Gohar of Islamabad, who had scored 65 runs in four overs against Zalmai last year.
It is to be noted that the star player of Quetta Gladiators Shahid Afridi returned to the team, he could not play the opening match due to Corona.
