The Balochistan government has declared 32 of the province's 34 districts as disaster prone, while Federal Minister for Climate Change Sherry Rehman has indicated that efforts should be made to minimize the negative effects of climate change and resist the ravages of global warming. According to the report of maknews-21, Mir Ziaullah Longo, adviser to the Chief Minister of Balochistan, said in a press conference along with Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz and Director General of the Provincial Disaster Management Authority Nasir Ahmad Nasr that since the heavy rains started in June, Balochistan At least 254 people have died while 1.3 lakh people have been forced to leave their homes and move to other places.

Officials said at least 10 districts of Quetta, Nasirabad, Jafarabad, Sahabpur, Jhal Magsi, Bolan (Kachhi) Khuzdar, Lasbela, Qila Saifullah and Qila Abdullah were particularly badly affected by the unusually worst floods, where crops Ruined and thousands of houses destroyed.

Zia Longo said that 29,000 people have been rescued so far during this natural disaster, 185,000 houses were partially damaged by the flood, while 64,000 houses were completely washed away.

He said that 5 lakh cattle also died during the flood.

He said that the government and NGOs have provided one month's ration to 98,000 citizens, while 40,000 tents have been given to flood-affected families.

He further said that at least 150 thousand tents are needed for the victims.

Meanwhile, Chief Secretary Abdul Aziz said that the government has given 2 million rupees compensation to the heirs of 170 people who lost their lives in flood-related accidents, while the families of other dead people will also be provided money in the next few days. .

He said that the NHA is working to restore the national highways and these roads will be opened for traffic in 3-4 days, but it may take several weeks to restore the railway bridges.

According to officials of the irrigation department, 5 districts of Naseerabad division are submerged in water.

On the other hand, hundreds of families are still stranded in villages of Naseerabad division as these areas have become inaccessible due to washed away communication roads, officials are delivering food and water to these areas through helicopters.

Quetta and other 7 districts are still without gas and electricity supply, SSGC engineers are busy repairing lawns while it will take another 2 days to fully restore the supply.

Electricity supply could not be fully restored as at least two-thirds of Balochistan was without power till the last reports.

``10 billion dollars are needed for better reconstruction''
On the other hand, warning of the health crisis after the floods in Islamabad, Federal Minister for Climate Change Senator Sherry Rehman said that the flood-affected areas may suffer from water-borne diseases.

While addressing a press conference along with Commerce Minister Syed Naveed Qamar and Senator Shahadat Awan, he said that out of total 160 districts affected by the flood, 72 districts are under water and have been declared disaster areas.

He said that 110 districts have been affected by floods and this is half of the country.

Sherry Rehman said that at least 30 million people are in dire need of drinking water, cooked food and basic medical assistance.

He said that the reconstruction of infrastructure in the flood-affected areas has started but it is a huge task, if we have to build an infrastructure that is capable of dealing with environmental challenges, 10 More than a billion dollars will be needed.
