The third item on the agenda is the no-confidence motion moved by 146 members against Prime Minister Imran Khan in accordance with Article 95-One of the Constitution under Rule 37 of the National Assembly 2007.

On the motion to table no-confidence motion, 152 members will file a no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister, stating that in the opinion of the House, Prime Minister Imran Khan has lost the confidence of the House.

The motion in the National Assembly will demand that the Prime Minister has lost the confidence of the House, so he should step down.

Members of the Assembly will present notices on matters of public interest in the agenda and the concerned ministers will present their position in this regard.

It may be recalled that the Speaker of the National Assembly Asad Qaiser had announced two days ago to convene a sitting of the Lower House of Parliament on Friday, March 25, 2022 at 11 o'clock in the Parliament House.

The statement said that the Speaker has convened a meeting of the National Assembly using the powers vested in him under Article 54 (3) and Article 254 of the Constitution.

In this regard, it was said that the meeting was convened on the requisition submitted by the opposition which will be the 41st session of the current National Assembly.

It should be noted that according to Article 54, if the requisition of the session of the National Assembly is submitted with the signatures of at least 25% of the members, then the Speaker has a maximum of 14 days to convene the session. A meeting of the lower house was to be convened by then.

However, a notification issued by the media department of the National Assembly clarified that the National Assembly on January 21 to allow special use of its chamber for the 48th meeting of the OIC Foreign Ministers on March 22 and 23. A motion was passed.

The statement said that the National Assembly Secretariat had asked the Senate Secretariat to provide its chamber for the lower house session due to unavailability of its chamber but it could not be made available due to renovation work.

It may be recalled that the joint opposition had filed a no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan on March 8 and also a recusal of the National Assembly session.

According to the constitutional code, the speaker is required to convene a meeting within 14 days of submitting the requisition.

However, the opposition had threatened to hold a sit-in in the National Assembly if no action was taken in the National Assembly on the no-confidence motion by Monday.
