In the first ODI match played in Lahore, the national team piled up 225 runs in 45.1 overs following the 314 runs given by Australia.

 

Imam-ul-Haq 103-run innings could not save the national team from defeat.

Captain Babar Azam is prominent with 57 runs.

For Pakistan, Saud Shakeel (3), Mohammad Rizwan (10) and Iftikhar Ahmed (2) returned to the pavilion. Fakhr Zaman (18) caught Travis Head.

Khushdal Shah scored 19 runs and Hassan Ali scored 2 runs. Muhammad Waseem was dismissed without scoring a run.

Australia league spinner Adam Zampa led four players to the pavilion, Travis Head took two wickets, Nathan Ellis, Mitchell Swampson and Sean Abbott took one wicket each.

Travis Head was named man of the match for his all-round performance.

In the first ODI of the series being played at Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore, Pakistan captain Babar Azam won the toss and invited Australia to bat first.

Openers Aaron Finch and Travis Head gave the team a great start and a 110-run partnership, after which Aaron Finch was caught behind the wickets for 23 runs.

Ben McDermott then joined Travis Head to take the total to 171, including Travis' offensive century.

Travis' innings ended with a superb 101 off 72 balls with three sixes and 12 fours.

When the team's score reached 209, the innings of McDermott, who scored 55, came to an end and he was run out and returned to the pavilion.

Apart from Travis Head and McDermott, none of the Australian batsmen were able to play big innings and Marinus Lubushin was dismissed for 25, Marcus Stevens for 26, Alex Carey for 4 and Sean Abbott for 14.


Cameron Green' 40 runs also played an important role in the team' big score and he remained unbeaten.

Australia scored 313 for 7 in the allotted overs.

 

For Pakistan, Haris Rauf and Zahid Mahmood took two wickets each while Iftikhar Ahmed and Khushdal Shah took one wicket each.

Nathan Ellis and Mitchell Swapson have made their debuts in the Australian team due to injury and cod problems.

Pakistan does not have the services of spinner Shadab Khan in the match and in his place Zahid Mahmood as well as Muhammad Wasim Jr. has been debuted.

It is to be noted that earlier a series of three Test matches was played between the two teams in which Australia had won 0-1.



Both teams consist of these players for the match.
