The Supreme Court has directed all political forces and state institutions to play their role within the constitutional limits and said that all orders of the Prime Minister and the President would be subject to the final decision of the Supreme Court while setting up a five-member larger bench for hearing. Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Umar Ata Bandial took suo motu notice of the political situation arising after the no-confidence motion against the Prime Minister was rejected by the opposition in the National Assembly by Deputy Speaker Qasim Suri.
A three-member bench of the Supreme Court, headed by Chief Justice of Pakistan Omar Ata Bandial, heard the suo motu notice on the situation in the country. The bench comprised Justice Ijaz-ul-Ahsan and Justice Muhammad Ali Mazhar.
During the hearing, the Supreme Court remarked that all orders of the Prime Minister and the President would be subject to the final decision of the Supreme Court.

The Supreme Court restrained state officials from taking any extra-constitutional action and said that political parties should remain peaceful and no extra-constitutional action should be taken.
The court issued notice to the Secretary of Defense on the steps taken to maintain law and order in the country, while rejecting the petition of the Deputy Speaker to suspend the rolling motion and also issued notice to the Attorney General.
The Chief Justice said that it was Ramzan Sharif and he did not want to suspend the hearing.
The Chief Justice said that no government body would act unconstitutionally, all political parties and government bodies would not benefit from this situation.

Justice Omar Ata Bandial ordered that law and order situation be maintained, this is the order of the court for today.
The Chief Justice directed to fix the PPP request and said that the Supreme Court would review the steps taken by the Deputy Speaker.

Later, the Supreme Court decided to form a new five-member larger bench to hear notices on the political situation.

PML-N President Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has said that Imran Khan has pushed the country towards anarchy. He hoped that the Supreme Court would play its role in upholding the constitution.
Chairman PPP Bilawal Bhutto said that according to the constitution, the vote on no-confidence has to be held today.
In his video message on Twitter, Bilawal Bhutto said that we have also filed a no-confidence motion against the Speaker. Now the only constitutional and democratic way is for the Supreme Court to decide that the no-confidence vote should be held today.
