PML-N President and Leader of the Opposition Mian Muhammad Shahbaz Sharif has sent a reply letter to President Arif Alvi refusing to consult in the name of caretaker Prime Minister.

In his reply letter, Shahbaz Sharif addressed the President and said, "You have written me two letters which I received on April 5 at 9 pm."

He wrote that Justice (Retd) Gulzar Ahmed has been nominated by Imran Khan for the caretaker Prime Minister but now the Supreme Court has taken suo motu notice of the whole matter.

In the text of the letter, Shahbaz Sharif said that the motion of no-confidence was unconstitutional.

The Leader of the Opposition said that it was unconstitutional to nominate Justice (retd) Gulzar Ahmed as the caretaker Prime Minister.

Shahbaz Sharif said that the Supreme Court has taken up the matter and said that any action would be subject to the orders of the court.

In a reply letter to the President, he said that the issue of self-notice of the Supreme Court regarding the rolling of the Deputy Speaker was still pending and before the decision on the petitions of the united opposition on the rolling of the Speaker, a decision was taken by you to appoint caretaker Prime Minister. Consultation on the matter is a hasty process.

He said that in these circumstances, the nomination of Justice Gulzar Ahmed for caretaker Prime Minister by Imran Khan Niazi was a vicious attempt to violate the provisions of the Constitution of Pakistan and influence the decision of the Supreme Court.

It may be recalled that on April 3, the no-confidence motion against Prime Minister Imran Khan was rejected by Deputy Speaker National Assembly Qasim Suri as unconstitutional.

Immediately after the conclusion of the lower house session, the Prime Minister addressed the nation and announced that the proposal to dissolve the Assembly had been forwarded to the President.

Prime Minister Imran Khan said that our Speaker has rejected the conspiracy to change the government, it was a foreign agenda and I want to congratulate the whole nation on its rejection.

The Prime Minister had said that after the decision taken by the Speaker using his powers, he had sent a proposal to the President to dissolve the Assemblies. We should go to the people democratically and the people should decide who they want.

Later on April 4, President Dr. Arif Alvi wrote a letter to Prime Minister Imran Khan and Leader of the Opposition in the outgoing Assembly Shahbaz Sharif seeking the appointment of an interim Prime Minister.

The letter asked both the persons to nominate a suitable person for the post of caretaker Prime Minister under Article 224A (1) of the Constitution of Pakistan.

Meanwhile, Prime Minister Imran Khan had nominated former Chief Justice of Pakistan Gulzar Ahmed for the post of caretaker Prime Minister.
