Mominul Haq's batting was heavily criticized after his defeat in the Test series against Sri Lanka this month, and demands for his resignation were mounting ahead of next month's tour of the West Indies.
In the six Tests played so far in 2022, Mominul Haq has scored just 162 runs with the help of a half-century and his batting has been a constant failure since Bangladesh's stunning victory over New Zealand.
In the Test series against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh had to face a 0-1 defeat and in the ten innings of this series, the Bangladesh captain could score only 11 runs.
Mominul Haq said that Nazemul Hassan had asked him to continue his leadership but he expressed his hesitation in this regard.

Mominul Haq's batting mentor Nazmul Abidin Fahim told AFP that the leadership was having some effect on Momin's batting, so I believe he should get rid of this burden to return to form as a batsman.
Mominul Haq has so far scored 3,525 runs in 53 Tests for Bangladesh with the help of 11 centuries.
