Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, head of the Council of Foreign Ministers of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), had a telephone conversation with OIC Secretary General Hussain Brahim Taha today.

During the telephone conversation between the two leaders, there was a special discussion on the recent Islamophobic measures taken by the ruling party in India, especially by two senior officials of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). Insulting remarks against Allah (swt) were also discussed.

Speaking on the occasion, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto said that the insulting remarks of top BJP officials had hurt the feelings of Muslims around the world.

The Foreign Minister further said that the explanatory efforts of the BJP and the delayed disciplinary action against those responsible could not alleviate the anguish and anxiety created in the Muslim world by this painful process.

He strongly condemned the mistreatment of peaceful protesters by Indian authorities after Friday prayers against the ridiculous remarks, the latest in a series of crackdowns by the Indian government on Muslims. ۔

Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto urged the OIC and its member states to intensify their efforts to protect the lives, dignity, property, culture, heritage and religious freedoms of Indian Muslims.

During the telephone conversation, he urged the OIC to take immediate notice of the deteriorating situation of Islamophobia in India.

During the talks, Foreign Minister Bilawal Bhutto, along with the OIC Secretary General, made derogatory remarks and expressed deep concern over the never-ending plight of Indian Muslims.

The OIC strongly recognizes the growing trend of Islamophobia and the need for collective action to address it.

On the occasion, the two leaders mentioned the UN and OIC resolutions and declarations on Islamophobia and ways and means to work together to combat the growing Islamophobia in India and alleviate the suffering of Indian Muslims. Decided to stay in touch to find out.
