Pakistan, China Armed Forces vow to increase cooperation to eradicate terrorism

A high-level delegation of the three Armed Forces led by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa visited China, where both sides pledged to enhance "cooperation in technology, training and counter-terrorism".

A statement issued by the Pakistan Army Public Relations (ISPR) said that a delegation of Pakistan Armed Forces visited China from June 9 to 12.

The delegation held extensive talks with senior officials of the Chinese military and other government departments.

He said that a high level meeting was held on June 12 in which the Pakistani delegation was led by Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa while the Chinese delegation was led by Vice Chairman of the Central Military Commission of China General Zhang Yoshiya.

The two sides exchanged views on the international and regional security situation and expressed satisfaction over the defense cooperation between the two countries, the statement said.

"Pakistan and China reaffirmed their strategic partnership in difficult times and agreed to continue regular exchanges of views on issues of mutual interest," the ISPR said.

He added that the two sides pledged to further enhance their training, technology and counter-terrorism cooperation in trilateral services.

Earlier this week, Chinese Foreign Minister Pang Chanxu and Pakistani leaders met at the 7th C-Pac Media Forum in Islamabad to discuss fake news and misinformation about major development projects in China. The Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) had warned of growing dangers.

He stressed the need for co-operation to combat it.

Chinese Deputy Chief of Staff Pang Chinxu had said that "false propaganda and misinformation are on the rise in C-Pac. Enemy forces are trying to undermine C-Pac's development as well as unity and mutual trust between the two countries."

C-Pack is widely touted as a game changer in Pakistan that will impact the geo-strategic, geo-economic and geopolitical dynamics of the region.

At the same time, however, media reports point to Pakistan's entanglement in China's debt trap, alleged lack of transparency in projects and the environmental impact of projects, especially coal-fired power plants. I have given rise to doubts and suspicions.
