In the important match of Asia Cup 2022, Sri Lanka defeated the defending champion India by 6 wickets by showing a brilliant game.



In the match played in Dubai, Sri Lanka captain Dasan Shanaka won the toss and invited India to bat first.

When India started batting, they suffered in the second over when opener KL Rahon scored 6 runs off 7 balls with the help of a four and was lbw off Thikshana.

The Indian captain also completed his half-century during this partnership, but when the team's score reached 110 runs in the 13th over, he was dismissed by Karunaratne after playing an innings of 72 runs.

India's fourth out was Surya Kumar, who scored 34 runs and was Shanaka's wicket for 119.

Hardik Pandya and Rishabh Pant had taken the score to 149 in the 18th over before Shanaka took another wicket for Sri Lanka, this time dismissing the dangerous batsman Pandya.

Pandya scored 17 runs with a six, followed by Deepak Hooda's dismissal for 3, Pant's 17-run innings ended with a total of 158.

Sri Lanka's third wicket fell on 110 when Dhanushka Gunthilak added a run to Ashwin.

Kaushal Mendes was the last batsman out, scoring a brilliant 57 off 37 balls with 4 fours and 3 sixes.

Bhanuka Rajapaksa and captain Dasan Shanaka put on a responsible partnership of 64 runs and did not let any more wickets fall and won the match.

Sri Lanka scored 174 runs for 4 wickets in the fifth ball of the last over and won the match by 6 wickets, making the chances of reaching the final clear.

Yuzvendra Chahal took 3 wickets and Ashwin took 1 wicket for India.

Sri Lankan captain Dasan Shanaka was adjudged the man of the match.

Earlier Dasan Shanaka had won the toss and said that the teams chasing the target have won in the last 10 to 12 matches in this field.

Without making any changes to the team, he said, "Our trend is unusual and we are hopeful of maintaining the rhythm."

On the other hand, Indian captain Rohit Sharma said that if we had won the toss, we would have bowled first, there is no significant change in the pitch.
