Background of the matter
It should be noted that in the report of journalist Ansar Abbasi published in the English daily 'The News' on November 15, 2021, it was claimed that 'Former Chief Judge of Gilgit-Baltistan Rana Muhammad Shamim said in a certified affidavit that he There are witnesses that former Chief Justice Saqib Nisar had instructed a High Court judge that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz should not be released on bail at any cost before the 2018 elections.
In the alleged affidavit, Rana Shamim had claimed that the former Chief Justice of Pakistan had come to Gilgit-Baltistan on vacation in 2018 and at one point he appeared 'very upset' while talking to his registrar on the phone and the registrar to the High Court judge. Asked to contact.
Rana Shamim said that Saqib Nisar finally got in touch with the judge and he told the judge that Nawaz Sharif and Maryam Nawaz must remain in jail until the elections are held. And asked for another cup of tea.
According to the document, on this occasion, Rana Shamim told Saqib Nisar that Nawaz Sharif had been deliberately framed, to which the former Chief Justice said, "Rana Sahib, the chemistry of Punjab is different from that of Gilgit-Baltistan".
However, while talking to Dawn.com, Saqib Nisar vehemently denied the allegations leveled against him and termed the report as a 'self-made story'.
Saqib Nisar had said that 'at that time he complained about the extension of his term while there could be any reason behind his claims'.
After the allegations against the Supreme Court came to light, the Islamabad High Court issued notices under the Contempt of Court Ordinance to journalist Ansar Abbasi, editor-in-chief Mir Shakeel-ur-Rehman, editor-in-chief of The News and Rana Shamim. Ordered to appear on November.

The court had ordered Rana Shamim to submit the original affidavit on December 7.
