A six-member team headed by police surgeon Dr Samia Saeed was formed for exhumation and postmortem as per court order to ascertain the cause of death of renowned TV anchor and former National Assembly member Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain.
An order issued by the police surgeon's office said that the team would leave the office of the police surgeon at 9 am on Thursday, June 23 in the presence of Judicial Magistrate East for exhumation at the premises of Abdullah Shah Ghazi shrine.
It was stated in the order that Karachi Police Surgeon Dr. Samia Saeed will lead the team, in addition to the senior members Additional Police Surgeon Dr. Shahid Nizam, Forensic Expert Prof. Dr. Pervez Makhdoom and Dr. Hari Ram Lohana as members. Dr. Gulzar Ali Solangi and Dr. Muhammad Areeb will be present.

It may be recalled that on June 18, a local court in Karachi had ordered an autopsy on well-known TV anchor and former National Assembly member Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain.
A petition for exhumation and postmortem of Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain was filed in the court a day earlier and was heard by Judicial Magistrate Eastern Minister Hussain Memon.
During the hearing, public prosecutor Sajjad Ali Dashti had argued that the heirs did not want an autopsy.
The court had reserved its verdict after hearing the arguments of the parties, after which it had ordered an autopsy of Amir Liaquat in a short order.

Meanwhile, the court had also issued a written order regarding the exhumation and postmortem of Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain.
The order stated that the heirs were of the view that the postmortem of Amir Liaquat would desecrate his grave. There is no doubt that the heirs are heirs of Amir Liaquat's grave So the justice system must come into action.
It should be noted that several showbiz personalities, fans and former and first wife of the late Amir Liaquat Hussain, Dr. Bushra Iqbal had demanded that the court should withdraw the order to exhume the late Anchor and conduct his autopsy.
Following the court's decision, Amir Liaquat's ex-wife and first wife Dr Bushra Iqbal had demanded in her post that her ex-husband's grave should not be exhumed. She wrote in her tweet that Does not allow tearing and digging of graves, Allah is watching all, so their souls should not be harmed.

After his post, though, the general fans also demanded that the autopsy of Amir Liaquat should not be done and the same showbiz personalities had also demanded that his grave should not be exhumed.
Senior actress Bushra Iqbal also demanded that Aamir Liaquat's grave should not be exhumed. She said in her video, Don't open.
Host Wasim Badami also expressed surprise at the court's decision to order the exhumation of Amir Liaquat at the request of an unknown person.
Actress Ashna Shah also demanded that Aamir Liaquat's grave should not be exhumed and wrote that further harm should be done to his children.
It may be recalled that on June 9, Dr Amir Liaquat Hussain, Member National Assembly and well known TV anchor passed away at the age of 50 in Karachi.

His body was later shifted to Jinnah Hospital for autopsy, where his heirs refused to perform the autopsy and the hospital administration handed over the body of Amir Liaquat to his heirs after fulfilling all the medico-legal requirements. ۔
